EcoHash

For commerce, industry & agriculture

EcoHash creates two sources of value from surplus electricity: more revenue and usable heat.

EcoHash at a glance

EcoHash uses surplus electricity from renewable-energy systems and puts it to economic use. At the same time, the resulting heat is available directly for your heating or process demand.

With up to 60 kW of system output per unit, it is designed for large renewable-energy systems and can grow through additional units. Immersion cooling ensures particularly efficient and quiet operation.

Our team installs and commissions EcoHash, including training. The integrated HashLink Automation Controller then takes over fully automatic control, matched to the site's actual surplus.

Indicative value for economic use, depending on site, operation and market conditions.

How surplus electricity becomes additional revenue

Electricity, computing power, Bitcoin, euros: EcoHash converts surplus energy into computing power, which is paid for in Bitcoin and can be sold for euros immediately or later. Surplus electricity is thus converted into a digital, tradeable flow of value. You can also use the resulting heat for heating or processes.

Product features

EcoHash features

EcoHash is designed as an industrial mini data centre for large renewable-energy systems and can be adapted modularly to the site.

Exploded view of EcoHash with open modules for electronics, cooling and hydraulics
  • Up to 60 kW system output per unit

EcoHash covers system outputs up to 60 kW per unit and can scale through multiple units for larger surplus volumes.

  • Immersion cooling

Immersion cooling supports efficient, quiet cooling of the miners while delivering a high heat yield.

  • Integrated cooling unit

If there is no heat demand at the site, the integrated cooling unit provides cooling and keeps operation stable.

  • Integrated heat exchanger

The resulting heat is returned through the integrated heat exchanger and can be used with a flow temperature of up to 80 °C.

  • Cassette system

The miners are housed in three cassettes. This simplifies handling and maintenance and provides access to each unit without having to open the entire system.

  • High technical standards

Designed with a focus on certification, machinery requirements, cyber security and patented system logic for reliable long-term technical operation.

  • Made in Austria

Developed and manufactured in Austria with high-quality components, from sensors to electrical safety equipment.

  • Fully equipped

Includes the system enclosure with miners, electronic components, sensors and electrical safety equipment, network technology including a firewall, HashLink Automation Controller, immersion cooling, piping and heat exchanger, hydraulic safety equipment, commissioning and training – certified to CE and RoHS.

EcoHash benefits

Increase business revenue

Surplus electricity is monetised directly on site instead of being fed in below value or curtailed. Over a four-year average, returns are around €0.20 per kWh.

Use operational heat

The resulting heat can be integrated directly into existing heating or process-heat systems at up to 80 °C and reduces energy costs.

Scale modularly

Multiple EcoHash units can be combined according to site size and extended step by step as surplus or heat demand grows.

Applications

  • SMEs

For small and medium-sized businesses with larger renewable-energy systems, regular surplus electricity and simultaneous heat demand in buildings or processes.

  • Energy producers

For operators of larger systems where surplus electricity can be used economically and the resulting heat can be integrated locally.

  • Tourism & leisure

For hotels, wellness facilities and swimming pools that need heat throughout the year, including summer, when surplus electricity is highest.

  • Logistics

For logistics sites with large roof areas, a consistent surplus profile and usable heat demand in buildings or infrastructure.

  • Agriculture

For agricultural businesses with ample roof space, seasonal load profiles and heat demand for buildings, water or operations.

How surplus electricity is put to use twice

The video shows how EcoHash puts renewable surplus electricity to use directly on site and makes the resulting heat usable again. Energy that could otherwise only be used economically to a limited extent becomes an additional source of revenue with a practical heat benefit.

EcoHash FAQ

Which sites are suitable for EcoHash?

EcoHash is particularly relevant for sites with recurring surplus electricity and simultaneous heat demand. Typical examples include businesses, commercial properties, agricultural operations or energy systems where electricity can be used better locally and heat can be reused directly.

The key factors are the surplus profile, feed-in situation and where usable heat arises on site. A broader overview is available in the knowledge-hub article Which sites are particularly suitable for HASHLYNK systems; it covers all HASHLYNK products.

What benefit does EcoHash provide?

EcoHash gives surplus electricity two uses: economically valuable computing power and heat for buildings or processes. This increases the value of locally generated electricity while reducing heating costs. Our knowledge-hub article From fixed prices to flexibility: why PV feed-in pays off less and less explains why feeding everything into the grid increasingly reaches its limits. We also explain the economics in how the revenue logic of HASHLYNK systems really works.

How is EcoHash integrated technically?

EcoHash is integrated into the site's existing energy infrastructure as a controllable load. This includes electrical integration, measurement of available surplus and hydraulic integration for heat use. The HashLink Automation Controller handles control. Read more about the platform in HashLink: intelligent automation for surplus electricity and energy management. Our article on how a HASHLYNK system is technically integrated into existing installations explains the general integration process.

What does an EcoHash system cost?

This cannot sensibly be answered with a single flat figure. We are happy to prepare an individual quotation. The economic assessment depends on site size, desired output, integration with existing infrastructure, heat use and technical conditions.

EcoHash typically pays back in around two to six years, depending on conditions at the site. Read more in How HASHLYNK systems’ revenue logic really works.

How does EcoHash operate?

EcoHash operates fully automatically. HashLink detects surplus energy, prioritises self-consumption and controls the system so surplus electricity is used only when it is actually available at the site. Heat use is integrated into the site logic at the same time.
